Technical Difficulties Redux - Characters

My approach to this piece is rather different in that I firstly sourced the voices and then built the characters around them, as opposed to creating the characters and then giving them voices. No actual script was written for the piece, either, as it evolved from the dialogue created by the characters involved when speaking to them on their subject matter.

I am hoping to achieve a comedic effect with my piece whilst highlighting the difficulties that different generations come across due to technology.

Characters:

  • TV
An older model, who is content with the 3 channels he can get. He doesn't see the need for any more, as they only show repeats of what he's already seen! He's quite an opinionated fellow - and that's putting it mildly!
  • Cash Register
A manual, old style model without any modern computer components or technology. She is happy to use her own brain to calculate prices, rather than having a calculator do it for her!
  • TV Remote
A jovial character, who likes to have banter with his friend, the DVD Remote. Quick-witted, he takes every opportunity he can get to mock his friend.
  • DVD Remote
A slightly disgruntled character, who doesn't fully understand the need for the latest technological fad of streaming services, such as Netflix, rather than using him and his DVD discs - although he wasn't particularly fond of the My Little Pony DVD they put in him the last time...
  • OBS Machine
A much younger character, who embraces the newer technology, and is glad things are moving forward in the hospital they work in. They are eager to see where things progress to next, helping the environment they are in and enabling them to be valued.
